Real CPD Happens with Real Pupils

Too much maths training happens in staffrooms using presentation slides, leaving teachers to figure out how to apply it to a room full of children.

At The Reasoning Club, we believe the most effective way to refresh staff pedagogy is to demonstrate it live. John steps right into your classrooms, working directly with your own pupils across your chosen year groups. Your teaching team observes the high-engagement strategies working in real-time, giving them the immediate confidence to replicate the impact in their own lessons.

Our Partnership Pathways

The Whole School Fluency Day

  • The Focus: Systemic change across your entire primary school.

  • Investment: £650

The Targeted Focus Day

  • The Focus: Concentrated support for a specific Key Stage or cohort.

  • What’s Included: 2 live in-classroom demonstration workshops (e.g., Year 3 and Year 4) with staff observation, followed by a dedicated 45-minute reflection and planning session with your maths lead.

The Year Group Deep Dive

  • The Focus: Sustained interventions over a half-term or term.

  • What’s Included: A series of 6 weekly or fortnightly sessions focused on a chosen year group—either targeting pupils working above the expected standard (Greater Depth) or boosting whole-class fluency.

  • Investment: £650

Our Flagship Offering: Reasoning Clubs

It can be incredibly challenging for busy teachers to provide the deep, sustained extension that high-ability mathematicians need in a mixed-ability classroom.

Our Reasoning Clubs are specifically designed to solve this problem. These are high-challenge, high-engagement sessions tailored exclusively for Year 6 pupils who are working above the expected standard.

How the Club Model Works:

  • The Hub Model: One local primary school acts as the "Host School" for the term.

  • The Cluster Invitation: Neighboring schools in the local area or Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) send a small group of their brightest and best mathematicians to join the club.

  • The Impact: Pupils get to collaborate with like-minded peers, tackle advanced problem-solving, and experience the rigorous challenge they deserve, without disrupting daily school schedules.
