Reasoning Club
The intention of Reasoning Club is to develop independent approaches to problem solving rather than relying on teachers telling the children what to do, Children learn by discussion, trying strategies out, finding all possibilities, eliminating and giving reasons for the answers they find.
We want children to love mathematics.
We hope to introduce the children to the ‘magic’ of mathematics and set some children down the path to become mathematicians.
Children really enjoy coming; they work alongside able mathematicians from other schools and there is a lot of inter-school discussion and competition.
We do not teach with tests in mind.
We know that children grow in confidence and resilience and this will help them in life, as well as in tests.
